||The Sri Lanka Cancer Society, 11, Hantana Road, Kandy.
The society has been able to extend their services
to the cancer afflicted from the five Provinces that
it serves, and also in the periphery of Kandy. The
activities carried out by the society are:
Cancer Education and Awareness Programmes:
We strive in every possible way to bring Cancer awareness
to the general public, mainly that cancer is curable
if detected early. Schools, Government and Non-Government
institutions and various other organizations are educated
through workshops conducted by leading oncologists
from the Cancer Unit of the General Hospital in Kandy.
Nursing staff and volunteers too follow refresher
To assist doctors, Counsellors provide their services
voluntarily, to help those diagnosed cope with the
devastating news. These services are also provided
to patients families as well, to help them cope with
Other services provided by the society are the Foster
Parent Scheme, providing facilities for overnight
stay, drug fund (for urgent medical supplies), and
a Baby Ward to name a few.
